About the role
You will serve as the primary technical authority for the Person and Trust platforms, which define identity and confidence levels for millions of users. This role involves owning the long-term architecture, data modeling strategy, and API contracts for the systems that manage identity evidence and verification. You will guide technical direction and mentor staff engineers to build a secure, scalable foundation for identity verification.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the data model strategy and architecture for the Person API, Trust Service, and Inspection Catalog.
- Establish and govern API contracts, including versioning and compatibility standards.
- Lead the transition of legacy identity data into modular, scalable services.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers on data modeling and trust architecture.
- Ensure all identity data systems meet strict security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Partner with Product, Security, and Compliance teams to align technical strategy with business goals.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, specifically as a technical authority for complex, multi-system domains.
- Expert knowledge of data modeling and graph structures, including designing schemas that remain performant and auditable at scale.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining APIs for systems that serve as a source of truth.
- Ability to drive technical alignment across teams without direct management authority.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with graph databases and modeling tradeoffs between graph and relational data.
- Experience modeling confidence scoring and evidence records.
- Background in building systems that manage entity attributes and relationships at scale.
- Expertise in NIST 800-63 IAL2/AAL2 standards and identity lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Knowledge of identity standards like Verifiable Credentials, Decentralized Identifiers, or OIDC extensions.
