What you'll do

1. Provide legal advice and guidance on matters arising from public sector contracts and government client relationships.

2. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including agreements, memoranda, and compliance filings.

3. Track and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that could impact the company's public sector business.

4. Collaborate with the broader legal team to assess and manage litigation risks tied to government engagements.

5. Develop and maintain compliance procedures that align with federal, state, and local government requirements.

6. Liaise with external law firms and government agency representatives on matters requiring outside expertise.

7. Deliver training and educational resources to internal teams on legal obligations and risk mitigation strategies.

8. Support the procurement process by reviewing solicitations, evaluating terms, and ensuring contractual compliance.

9. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all legal matters, including case notes, correspondence, and resolution records.

10. Partner with senior leadership to identify legal risks early and recommend strategies to address them proactively.

Requirements

1. Hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

2. Possess a minimum of five years of legal experience gained in a corporate legal department, law firm, or government agency.

3. Have a demonstrated track record of managing public sector contracts, government procurement, or regulatory compliance matters.

4. Show a thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory environment applicable to government contractors and public-private partnerships.

5. Communicate complex legal concepts in clear, concise language to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.

6. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple active matters with competing deadlines.

7. Work effectively with colleagues across departments to integrate legal considerations into business decisions.

8. Exhibit a high standard of professional ethics and discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
