About the role
Horizon3 is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to oversee the company's financial reporting integrity. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial statements, managing complex accounting judgments, and strengthening the overall control framework. You will provide senior-level accounting guidance for significant transactions and strategic initiatives.

What you'll do
- Oversee the preparation and final review of monthly financial reporting packages and overall financial statement presentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Take ownership of significant accounting estimates, judgments, and technical accounting matters, including the creation or supervision of technical memos.
- Provide accounting direction on major transactions, unusual financial issues, and areas requiring elevated review or escalation.
- Act as the primary accounting liaison with external auditors, supporting audit planning and issue resolution.
- Manage the preparation and review of annual audited financial statements and related disclosures.
- Ensure audit readiness by proactively managing accounting documentation, controls, and supporting analyses.
- Guide the application of accounting policies, reporting structure decisions, and chart of accounts governance.
- Drive cross-functional accounting risk management by identifying dependencies and collaborating with other departments.
- Develop and refine processes to enhance financial reporting quality and control effectiveness.
- Maintain oversight of accounting systems governance, including ERP role design and access reviews.
- Foster talent development, succession planning, and scalable team design within the accounting function.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Revenue Operations, Tax, and business leaders to assess accounting implications of new products, contracts, acquisitions, and business changes.
- Offer accounting leadership and decision support for company scaling and operational transformation projects.
- Champion continuous improvement within the accounting department to support organizational growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership in financial close, reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls.
- Proficient understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX, financial statement presentation, accounting estimates, judgments, and control-oriented accounting operations.
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS, technology, or similarly complex business environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to articulate accounting issues in terms of business risk and communicate effectively with senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance controls, improve processes, and collaborate across functions while maintaining technical accuracy.
- Experience leading ERP implementations, accounting system upgrades, or finance transformation projects is preferred.
