About the role
Horizon3 is seeking a leader to establish and grow our Business Applications function within the IT department. This is a hands-on management position requiring someone who can guide a team, define strategic direction, and directly contribute to building the applications, integrations, and AI tools that empower our entire organization.

What you'll do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for administering company-wide IT applications, building system integrations, and deploying AI-powered automation.
- Establish team priorities and operational cadences, balancing immediate needs with long-term platform development and improvements.
- Actively participate in complex technical builds, architectural decisions, and critical cross-functional projects.
- Manage the administration, configuration, and lifecycle of IT-managed applications such as Jira and collaboration suites.
- Develop and enforce governance for permissions, roles, and access across IT-owned platforms, collaborating with IT Engineering on identity management.
- Design and implement workflows and reporting within IT applications to enable self-service for departments like GTM, Finance, and Legal.
- Serve as the primary architect and administrator for our Workato IPaaS instance, creating and maintaining integrations.
- Evaluate integration needs, prioritizing native solutions, then Workato, and finally custom AWS middleware when necessary.
- Architect and build custom integrations using AWS services like Lambda, S3, RDS, and API Gateway for complex requirements.
- Oversee external development contractors, managing project scope, technical specifications, and quality assurance.
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents and solutions using platforms like Glean, Claude, Gemini, and AWS Bedrock to address business challenges.
- Manage the intake and assessment process for AI agent requests, considering feasibility, data sources, and security implications.
- Establish security and access controls for AI agent deployments in partnership with IT Engineering and Security teams.
- Maintain an inventory and lifecycle plan for all owned applications, integrations, and AI agents.
- Collaborate with IT Engineering, Security, and Legal to ensure all practices meet security, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Develop metrics and reports to track BizApps performance, delivery speed, and platform health.
- Drive continuous improvement within the Business Applications function through tooling, processes, and documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT, business systems administration, or systems engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing people or projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience administering enterprise SaaS platforms at scale, with Jira/Atlassian suite experience being mandatory.
- Proven hands-on experience building and managing integrations using an IPaaS platform, with Workato experience being strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building custom integrations or middleware using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, or EventBridge.
- Hands-on experience building or deploying AI agents on at least one enterprise AI platform (Glean, Claude, Gemini, or AWS Bedrock), including connecting them to internal data.
- Working knowledge of APIs, webhooks, data models, and integration patterns like REST and event-driven architecture.
- Experience managing external contractors or vendors for custom development work, including scoping and quality control.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business needs from non-technical teams into technical solutions.
- Understanding of access control, data security, and compliance considerations (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) for business applications and AI systems.
- Experience supporting a distributed or remote-first workforce.

- Relevant certifications such as Atlassian, AWS, or Workato.
- Experience in high-growth SaaS or cybersecurity companies.
