AI & Automations Lead at HopSkipDrive.

About the role

HopSkipDrive is a Series D company providing safe, supplemental transportation for students. This role sits within the IT and Information Security team to drive the organization toward an AI-first operating model. You will build the infrastructure, governance, and automation patterns that allow the company to scale its use of AI securely.

Location: Remote USA (AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, PA)

Engagement: Full-time

Salary: $120,000 - $145,000 plus equity

Team: IT & Information Security

What you'll do

Develop and maintain shared infrastructure, including secure web app hosting, API standards, key management, and a centralized pattern library.
Manage the advisory and review process for all corporate AI builds, including agentic workflows, Claude Skills, and API integrations.
Collaborate with internal departments to scope and deploy AI solutions that meet security, cost, and scalability requirements.
Establish a formal intake process for automation requests to replace ad-hoc builds and shadow IT.
Monitor and set thresholds for AI spend across all usage-based platforms to ensure cost efficiency.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT, technical operations, or support roles with a focus on systems integration and workflow optimization.
Documented experience deploying LLM integrations or advanced AI tools into production workflows within the last 12 months.
Practical experience building automation workflows using tools like n8n, Workato, or Zapier.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Google Apps Script.
Hands-on experience with agent design, prompt engineering, MCP servers, and API integrations.
Familiarity with GCP infrastructure, including IAM fundamentals and secrets management.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal reporting authority.
Strong communication skills for explaining technical risks and guardrails to non-technical stakeholders.
