The Growth team is central to this expansion, developing AI-driven systems for customer acquisition, activation, and retention. This role involves leading the engineering efforts for these critical product growth initiatives.

What you'll do
- Oversee all aspects of Growth engineering, including acquisition funnels, onboarding flows, product-led growth loops, and retention systems that directly impact Homebase's revenue.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Product Growth and Growth Design leadership, providing engineering speed, technical direction, and architectural insight for growth strategies.
- Establish systems and a culture for conducting frequent A/B tests, rigorously measuring results, and quickly implementing successful findings into production.
- Direct engineering efforts for AI-powered features that enhance personalization, onboarding intelligence, and automation to improve conversion rates.
- Recruit, develop, and retain skilled engineers, fostering a high-performing and trusting team environment, and coaching for technical excellence and AI proficiency.
- Define technical standards and make architectural choices that enable rapid development without accumulating future technical debt.
- Maintain a fast operational pace by removing obstacles, making clear decisions, and keeping the team focused on key objectives.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of experience in software engineering.
- 4 or more years of experience managing engineering teams.
- Proven history of leading engineering teams focused on growth, platforms, or products in a fast-paced SaaS or consumer technology setting.
- Deep understanding of growth engineering concepts, including funnel analysis, A/B testing infrastructure, activation and retention strategies, and product-led growth models.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting funnels, understanding user cohorts, and instrumenting features for data collection.
- Experience developing or integrating AI/ML features into products, such as recommendations, personalization, or automation.
- Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance personal productivity and coaching teams to do the same, with clear opinions on the value of AI-powered features for users.
- Excellent communication skills across different departments, comfortable in both product strategy discussions and technical design reviews.
Nice to have
- Experience with product-led growth models in B2B SaaS, including self-serve funnels, freemium conversions, and product-led sales handoffs.
- Familiarity with products for small businesses or hourly workforces.
- Experience with mobile-first growth interfaces, such as iOS/Android onboarding, push notifications, and in-app engagement.
