Senior Software Engineer

About the role

HireArt is building a modern platform to simplify how companies manage and employ contract workers. We are looking for a senior engineer to join our Feature Team and help scale our core application while maintaining high standards for code quality and delivery.

What you'll do

• Manage large product features from initial concept through final deployment.
• Translate vague project requirements into actionable technical plans.
• Collaborate with product managers to refine scope and define project goals.
• Maintain transparent communication with your team regarding timelines and progress.
• Perform code reviews focused on long-term maintainability.
• Develop and support automated test suites as a core part of your workflow.
• Refactor legacy code using a pragmatic and incremental approach.
• Utilize AI coding assistants while maintaining full accountability for all production output.

Requirements

• 8 to 10 years of professional experience or equivalent depth of impact.
• Extensive, practical experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Demonstrated success in owning large-scale features within a product-focused organization.
• Strong commitment to writing and maintaining automated tests.
• Ability to partner effectively with product managers and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of working remotely while maintaining high levels of communication and proactivity.
• Must reside in the United States and be authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Availability to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Stimulus and Turbo.
• Background in early-stage or entrepreneurial companies.
• Expertise in end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Experience with complex domain or ERP-style data modeling.
• Prior work in HR, staffing, or marketplace software.
