About the role
As a member of Hinge's AI Platform Core team, you will play a vital role in shaping and enhancing a growing machine learning platform. Your focus will be on improving the development, deployment, and operational aspects of AI-driven features within the app. This position involves tackling challenges such as scaling training frameworks, enabling real-time predictions, and ensuring model performance monitoring.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Take ownership of technical designs for various platforms, including feature, training, serving, and AI observability platforms.
- Develop and refine frameworks for AI/ML model creation and deployment while promoting best practices in MLOps and generative AI engineering.
- Ensure usability, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in your designs, delivering solutions incrementally.
- Work closely with ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers to understand their requirements and identify ways to streamline AI/ML processes.
- Provide mentorship to ML Engineers, Backend Engineers, and Product Managers regarding current and emerging tools and technologies in ML operations and generative AI.
- Contribute to the design of an AI platform that aligns with responsible AI principles, integrating privacy compliance throughout.
- Lead discussions on whether to build or buy technologies that support the platforms in use.
- Participate in on-call duties and incident management activities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as an ML, backend, data, or platform engineer, particularly with large-scale systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in a cloud environment such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, along with familiarity with DevOps tools like Kubernetes.
- Over 1 year of experience leading projects with at least one other team member to completion.
- More than 1 year of experience in designing and developing online and production-grade ML systems.
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Strong abilities in system design and architecture for scalable ML systems.
- Familiarity with ML algorithms, techniques, and best practices.
- Experience in data engineering, including managing large datasets through cleaning, preprocessing, and storage.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in diverse teams.
- Strong written communication skills for documenting complex ideas and technical information.
- Proven leadership skills in guiding projects to successful outcomes with measurable results.
