What you'll do

• Architect and develop scalable backend systems to meet product needs and improve platform performance.
• Take ownership of the design for essential subscription and membership functions, including billing, plan management, and order processing across various departments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in commerce, clinical, pharmacy, and fulfillment to guide technical direction and ensure platform consistency.
• Mentor colleagues on engineering best practices and design principles.
• Represent the team's technical requirements within the wider engineering organization.
• Contribute to product development through prototyping and testing.
• Work with product and design to ensure the platform supports a smooth customer journey.
• Make strategic technical choices to boost security, scalability, and performance.
• Deconstruct complex projects into manageable tasks.
• Set and uphold consistent coding and testing standards.
• Lead initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve workflow efficiency.
• Implement monitoring and incident response tools for performance optimization.
• Integrate analytics to show how engineering solutions affect customer activation and reactivation.
• Analyze data and user input for continuous platform improvement.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
• Conduct code reviews and promote knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior technical leadership capacity.
• Demonstrated experience building platform infrastructure for customer retention and engagement, ideally in AWS.
• Strong command of backend technologies including Spring, Java, Kotlin, and PostgreSQL.
• Proven ability to enhance web service performance metrics such as speed and reliability.
• Experience with workflow tools (Temporal), monitoring (Datadog), experimentation platforms (Growthbook, Optimizely), and CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub actions).
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities for cross-team work.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet objectives independently.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, React Native, NextJS, GraphQL, TypeScript).
