What you'll do

• Design and build high-performance, scalable backend systems that enhance user experiences on our health platform.
• Guide and mentor fellow engineers on development best practices, architectural patterns, and code quality.
• Contribute to product strategy by assessing technical feasibility and defining new features.
• Collaborate with other engineering groups to ensure smooth integration of services.
• Champion technical vision and identify new technologies to improve platform security, reliability, and performance.
• Deconstruct complex projects into manageable tasks for efficient execution.
• Implement comprehensive system monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure operational excellence.
• Drive improvements in team workflows, processes, and development tools.
• Analyze performance data and user feedback to identify and implement optimizations.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for system architecture and development procedures.
• Conduct code reviews and facilitate knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to boost system efficiency.
• Stay current with industry advancements and propose innovative solutions.
• Assist in the hiring process by interviewing and onboarding new engineers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping production code.
• At least 3 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying distributed backend systems.
• A minimum of 3 years working with microservice architectures.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience building scalable web applications and services, ideally in a cloud environment.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing front ends and microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with strategic thinking skills.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including automated testing.
• Experience with relational databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently to achieve objectives.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare technology, wearables, or connected device data.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React, React Native, or NextJS.
• Experience creating developer frameworks or tools.
• Expertise in web performance optimization.
