What you'll do

• Design and construct scalable backend services and APIs to power personalized treatment suggestions.
• Build the core infrastructure for AI-driven experimentation and recommendation engines.
• Collaborate with machine learning specialists to integrate predictive models into patient and provider workflows.
• Develop highly available and maintainable distributed systems.
• Drive improvements in self-service tools, testing frameworks, and data processing for the platform.
• Work with other engineering groups to establish shared practices and reusable components.
• Investigate and implement new AI and LLM technologies to enhance healthcare delivery.
• Lead significant technical projects that involve multiple teams.
• Guide and mentor other engineers through technical discussions and hands-on work.
• Contribute to the strategic technical direction of the MedMatch platform and the broader AI initiatives.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on production systems.
• Deep knowledge of backend development, distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead major technical projects and influence architectural decisions.
• Experience developing data-intensive applications that utilize machine learning or recommendation algorithms.
• Strong command of Python and modern software development methodologies.
• Experience integrating machine learning models, recommendation systems, or LLM applications into live products.
• Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, from training to deployment and monitoring.
• Ability to balance immediate product needs with long-term system health and scalability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with various departments.

Nice to have

• Experience developing recommendation engines, ranking systems, personalization tools, or decision support systems.
• Background in the healthcare or health tech industry.
• An advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
