This position is for a senior backend engineer who will guide the technical direction and architecture of our customer-facing systems. You will set the standard for engineering excellence and enable teams to build scalable, resilient solutions that support our business objectives.

What you'll do
- Shape the long-term technical strategy and architectural vision for customer-facing platforms.
- Lead initiatives that improve system scalability, define clear service boundaries, and build core capabilities.

- Act as a primary technical advisor for design decisions and ensure alignment among various engineering groups.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to align technical roadmaps with strategic goals.

- Mentor senior technical staff to enhance engineering expertise and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Navigate complex and unclear technical challenges to provide clear direction and accelerate strategic project delivery.
- Translate user needs and product requirements into robust and scalable technical designs.
- Focus on building sustainable systems and team structures that support growth, prioritizing non-functional requirements like observability and reliability.
Requirements
- A minimum of 12 years of professional software development experience, with a proven history of technical leadership at a group or organizational level.
- Experience with programming languages such as Kotlin, Java, or Go, coupled with a deep understanding of designing systems for scale and performance.
- Experience in introducing and scaling shared infrastructure, frameworks, or libraries across multiple development teams.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI, GitHub), cloud environments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog).
- Demonstrated ability to bring clarity to architectural designs and align technical efforts across different functions.
- Experience converting customer and clinical requirements into dependable, maintainable, and impactful technical solutions.
- A history of making significant positive impacts on developer experience, team productivity, and system sustainability.
