About the role
You will guide the product strategy for Raven, Heron Power's integrated suite of business systems. This platform manages the company's supply chain, factory operations, and back office functions. Your work will involve both high-level strategy and detailed, hands-on execution.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery phases for the Raven platform, including in-house manufacturing systems and external portals.
- Specify and prioritize requirements for the in-house Manufacturing Execution System (MES), covering work orders, routings, recipe generation, resource management, and data collection.
- Develop requirements for core modules like Warehouse Management System (WMS), Quality Management System (QMS), production planning, New Product Introduction (NPI), and analytics.
- Manage integration points with external systems, including customer and supplier portals, and factory floor control systems (SCADA/PLC).
- Ensure the platform meets compliance and traceability needs by capturing necessary data and audit trails, collaborating with quality, legal, and operations teams.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, quality, finance, and engineering to understand needs and align system development with user requirements.
- Establish metrics and return on investment for system investments, communicating platform performance and risks to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 or more years of experience in product management or business systems, specifically leading enterprise or operational software platforms within a manufacturing, supply chain, or hardware context.
- Extensive experience with core manufacturing and supply chain systems such as MES, ERP, WMS, QMS, or production planning (MRP/APS).
- Demonstrated ability to make build-versus-buy decisions for third-party SaaS and custom applications.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, system integration, master data, and traceability in connected systems.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs through influence across various stakeholder groups.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, building processes and systems from the ground up with limited resources.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining system trade-offs, risks, and ROI to operational leaders and executives.
Nice to have
- Experience establishing an MES or QMS from scratch in a growing production environment.
- Background in power electronics, energy conversion, or capital equipment manufacturing, with familiarity in high-voltage or high-power hardware challenges.
- Practical experience deploying specific platforms like NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle (ERP/finance), CRM, or procure-to-pay tools.
- Familiarity with NPI processes and the systems supporting the transition from prototype to volume production.
- Experience with analytics, business intelligence, and data warehousing, including defining reports and dashboards for operations and leadership.
- Technical understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and SQL sufficient to discuss architecture and data decisions with engineering, including MES-to-SCADA/PLC connectivity.
