About the role
Heron Power develops advanced power electronics to modernize grid infrastructure through scalable hardware. This role focuses on managing the software lifecycle for our inverters and rectifiers, ensuring that complex technical updates are validated and deployed effectively.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define and manage the scope of software releases, including change control and prioritization of features and fixes.
- Align software release targets with program milestones and business requirements.
- Assess integration risks and determine the most effective validation strategies.
- Ensure traceability between system requirements, code implementation, and test results.
- Create integration guidelines and improve the development-to-test feedback loop.
- Oversee release ticket burndowns and lead go/no-go decision processes.
- Design and implement over-the-air update strategies, including factory deployment and field testing.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, specifically in integration, validation, or release engineering.
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ with the ability to perform critical code reviews.
- Practical experience building hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop systems for power inverters.
- Experience with Simulink or similar control simulation platforms.
- Proven history of managing firmware release cycles for shipped hardware products.
- Deep knowledge of RTOS, hardware abstraction layers, and embedded architectures.
- Ability to maintain high quality standards in a fast-paced development environment.
- Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between technical engineering and program management.
Nice to have
- Bench-level hardware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.
- Familiarity with safety-critical standards such as IEC 61508 or UL1998.
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines or automated testing frameworks.
- Exposure to fleet management and over-the-air update mechanisms.
- Experience with production qualification and manufacturing testing.
