About the role
This role is for a technical leader on the Deep Learning team, driving complex perception projects from start to finish. You will elevate the team's capabilities while applying advanced deep learning techniques to solve real-world problems for transit systems and government agencies. Your work will directly contribute to improving street safety and transportation efficiency.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Guide large-scale perception projects from initial concept to full production deployment.
- Create and document technical plans, ensuring agreement across Deep Learning, Platform, and Product teams.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and collaborative coding.
- Help shape the team's future technical direction and assess new investment opportunities.
- Maintain high engineering standards for model development, MLOps, and deployment processes.
- Solve abstract problems with various stakeholders like Product and program management, delivering quality solutions on time.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
- Leadership: Prior experience in a tech lead or staff-level role is preferred.
- Depth: Expert knowledge in at least two of these perception areas: 3D vision models for depth and structure, video/temporal models for intent prediction, fine-tuning vision language models, foundation models in perception, or optimizing ML models on Nvidia edge devices using CUDA.
- Breadth: Proficiency across the entire ML stack, including model training, evaluation, optimization, cloud and edge deployment, and MLOps (pipelines, experiment tracking, CI/CD for ML).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence decisions across different teams.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear design documents and project plans.
