Job description
Senior Product Manager, Coding - Handshake AI at handshake.
About the role
Handshake AI connects domain experts with AI labs to generate the high-quality data required for training frontier models. As the Senior Product Manager for our coding modality, you will define the vision and execution roadmap for how we collect, evaluate, and scale coding-related human data. This role requires navigating significant ambiguity to build a repeatable product that helps AI systems learn to write, debug, and reason through software.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Establish the product strategy for coding as a human data modality, determining which features to prioritize for code generation, debugging, and reasoning.
- Conduct customer discovery with AI labs to identify specific data standards and workflow requirements.
- Manage the end-to-end product roadmap, making difficult trade-offs to balance immediate customer needs with long-term platform scalability.
- Lead a cross-functional squad of engineering, design, and operations partners to turn early-stage projects into standardized offerings.
- Define and track key performance metrics, including capacity, quality benchmarks, and staffing efficiency.
- Oversee the launch and iteration of new coding data initiatives, gathering feedback to refine the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Professional background as a software developer at a tech company, with strong preference for experience at FAANG or equivalent organizations.
- Minimum of 5 years of product management experience, including successful collaboration with engineering teams to ship products.
- Proven experience operating within a small, early-stage team where you were responsible for defining problems rather than following an existing playbook.
- Technical fluency that allows you to review specifications, evaluate code quality, and understand developer workflows.
- Ability to synthesize messy, incomplete feedback into a clear, actionable product direction.
Nice to have
- Previous experience at an AI lab, human data company, or developer tools organization.
- History of owning a 0-to-1 product area, such as a new data modality or a net-new market segment.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning training data, annotation workflows, or code evaluation benchmarks.
Skills & tools
- Product strategy and roadmap development
- Technical reasoning and code evaluation
- Cross-functional team leadership
- Data-driven prioritization in ambiguous environments
- Systems thinking for operational scaling
Practical notes
