Senior Manager, Facilities Infrastructure

You will manage the facility from construction completion through stable production, ensuring all systems support our advanced manufacturing operations. This role involves building and leading the facilities and maintenance team, prioritizing uptime, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Act as the main internal contact for all construction activities, coordinating with the general contractor, sub-trades, and construction management on daily schedules, scope, access, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering on construction-to-operations handover, including punch lists, system commissioning, OEM acceptance testing, warranty tracking, and as-built documentation for various systems like HVAC, electrical, and fire/life safety.
• Align facility readiness with production ramp-up, ensuring utilities and environmental controls are operational before equipment installation.
• Develop the site's core documentation, including drawings, equipment registers, maintenance plans, and emergency response protocols.
• Implement the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for asset records and maintenance schedules.
• Establish and lead the site's facilities and maintenance team, including supervisors and technicians across multiple shifts.
• Implement the multi-site maintenance strategy, focusing on preventive maintenance, long-term asset planning, and reliability programs.
• Oversee site-level key performance indicators for uptime, response time, and PM compliance.
• Define staffing and budget plans for facilities and maintenance functions.
• Cultivate a customer-service oriented mindset towards production and a culture of urgency and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the performance and reliability of critical facility infrastructure such as electrical substations, HVAC, compressed air, and overhead cranes.
• Drive uptime for complex production equipment, including welding cells, sheet metal machinery, and CNC tools.
• Lead troubleshooting and escalation for critical infrastructure or equipment failures to minimize downtime.
• Implement and standardize preventive maintenance programs using real-time CMMS data.
• Monitor asset performance to identify predictive maintenance opportunities.
• Manage site-level communication and escalation protocols for equipment and facility downtime.
• Conduct structured communication cadences, including daily check-ins with production and weekly maintenance reviews.
• Lead root cause analysis for critical failures and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Build relationships with service providers and OEMs to improve response times and parts lead times.
• Manage site-level service contracts, SLAs, and contractor access procedures.
• Develop and manage the spare parts strategy and inventory for production and facility systems.
• Contribute to capital planning for asset lifecycle, upgrades, and major infrastructure projects.
• Ensure all facility and maintenance activities comply with aerospace, environmental, and life-safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, EPA).
• Maintain compliance for regulated systems like pressure vessels and lifting equipment.
• Oversee safety outcomes and audit readiness for facility and maintenance activities.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance uptime, reduce costs, and improve safety.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of facilities or maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Minimum of 5 years in a site or multi-site leadership role.
• Experience operating or commissioning a facility of 500,000 square feet or larger with mixed production and complex utility infrastructure.
• Direct experience with HVAC, compressed air, electrical distribution including medium-voltage substations, overhead cranes, and building automation systems.
• Proven experience as the operations counterpart to a general contractor on a new build or major expansion, handling punch lists, commissioning, turnover, and warranties.
• Demonstrated ability to scale high-performing technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of CMMS platforms and maintenance workflows.
• Experience in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or medical devices.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, comfortable interacting with executives, contractors, and technicians.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, construction management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing a new manufacturing facility from construction handover through stable operations.
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering practices.
• Trade certifications or licenses (electrical, HVAC, EPA refrigerant, crane operator, or equivalent).
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing large vendor and OEM service contracts.
• Strong understanding of CNC machinery, welding and sheet metal equipment, assembly automation, and their mechanical and controls systems.
