HackerOne is seeking a legal leader to guide its global commercial legal operations. This role involves scaling the legal function to support enterprise growth, international expansion, and product innovation, particularly in AI. You will set global standards for risk management and operational excellence, moving beyond maintenance to architect new legal frameworks.

What you'll do

• Oversee and expand the commercial legal function across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions.
• Define commercial risk parameters and negotiation strategies to balance business growth with governance.
• Act as the final authority on commercial risk within established limits, collaborating with the Chief Legal Officer on major company issues.
• Provide legal support for complex enterprise transactions in regulated sectors and global markets.
• Build and mentor a high-performing, multi-jurisdictional team covering commercial, privacy, and procurement legal areas.
• Enhance leadership capabilities within the function to ensure succession and operational independence.
• Design the legal operational model to support international expansion and product development.
• Develop an AI-focused legal operations strategy to improve contract review, knowledge management, and workflow automation.
• Implement data-driven decision-making by setting KPIs for contract cycle times, risk patterns, and negotiation outcomes.
• Simplify existing complexities and redesign commercial workflows for scalability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Go-to-Market, Finance, Security, and Product leadership to speed up deal processes while maintaining integrity.
• Guide the organization through new product launches, regulatory changes, and global expansion with clear operational plans.
• Translate company strategy into departmental priorities, systems, and measurable results.
• Increase the function's long-term impact through talent development and scalable systems.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in the UK/EU or USA.
• At least 12 years of legal experience, with substantial in-house leadership in technology or SaaS environments.
• Proven track record of leading a commercial legal function or a significant sub-function at scale.
• Extensive background in negotiating complex, international enterprise agreements.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting industries with regulations such as financial services, healthcare, defense, or the public sector.
• Background in establishing global legal infrastructure during periods of rapid growth or international expansion.
• Familiarity with implementing legal technology and AI-powered workflow tools.
• Experience managing external counsel budgets and vendor risk governance frameworks.
