Server CPU Systems Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a systems engineer to manage hardware deployment and rack-level validation for our compute infrastructure. You will oversee the lifecycle of server and blade hardware, ensuring high-quality system bring-up and post-silicon validation in our Austin lab.

What you'll do

• Install, configure, and maintain blade servers, chassis, and network switches.
• Execute rack and stack operations, including physical mounting, cable management, and equipment labeling.
• Maintain precise inventory records and asset tracking within DCIM platforms.
• Perform physical audits and reconcile discrepancies in hardware deployment.
• Document installation procedures, rack layouts, and cabling schematics.
• Triage and resolve hardware issues during bring-up, post-silicon validation, and production.
• Develop methodologies for at-scale test execution and system-level debug.
• Lead test execution for CPU, GPU, memory, HBM, and IO domains.
• Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and operations teams to support data center migrations and expansions.

Requirements

• Experience with blade server installation and maintenance, such as Cisco UCS, HPE Synergy, or Dell MX.
• Background in rack and stack deployments within enterprise or hyperscale settings.
• Proficiency in copper and fiber cabling management.
• Ability to read and interpret rack elevation diagrams and cabling schematics.
• Experience with Linux, including OS image provisioning and firmware flashing.
• Familiarity with Python for script development and test automation.
• Knowledge of lab networking, including DNS, DHCP, and storage configurations.
• Experience with ticketing and change management systems.
• Ability to work with ODMs and third-party vendors throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in complex systems engineering, specifically validating HW/FW/SW in server compute racks or data center environments.
• Experience designing and deploying modern AI/ML rack-scale systems.
• Familiarity with emerging AI data center infrastructure and industry hardware development standards.
