Director - Post-Silicon Validation

About the role

Graphcore is building a new AI Engineering Campus in Austin to develop next-generation system-on-chip hardware. This leadership position oversees the functional validation of high-performance AI silicon, guiding a team through the full lifecycle from pre-silicon emulation to final product characterization.

What you'll do

• Plan and execute silicon validation tests using bare metal C/C++ on FPGA and emulator platforms prior to hardware arrival.
• Manage the bringup process for first silicon and perform hands-on debugging.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks and regression suites using Python.
• Coordinate with hardware, software, and systems engineering departments to resolve complex technical issues.
• Report project progress to program management and provide technical mentorship to engineering staff.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for test infrastructure and validation methodologies.
• Analyze test data to identify defects and provide feedback to silicon architects.

Requirements

• Professional experience with post-silicon validation in digital ASIC environments.
• Proficiency in bare metal or embedded C/C++.
• Experience with Python and Linux environments.
• Understanding of machine learning applications and associated workloads.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical skills for root cause identification.
• Ability to lead and support team members through complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of industry experience.
• Background in building and managing multi-site engineering teams.
• Driver-level expertise in PCIe, Ethernet, or memory technologies like LPDDR, DDR, and HBM.
• Knowledge of peripherals including I2C, I3C, and SPI.
• Familiarity with mixed-signal components such as high-speed PHYs and PLLs.
• Experience with Arm CPUs, System IP, debug tools, and AMBA protocols.
• Expertise in characterization, failure analysis, test development, and statistical analysis.
