Principal Cloud Engineer

About the role

Graphcore is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Platform Team in Bristol. You will design, deploy, and manage cloud services that support our high-performance AI hardware and software stacks. This role involves close collaboration with our Software Platform, Datacentre Operations, and Product Development teams to deliver scalable infrastructure for both internal and public cloud environments.

What you'll do

• Manage and expand existing OpenStack-based cloud services while developing new deployment solutions.
• Lead major technical initiatives and provide mentorship to junior engineering staff regarding best practices.
• Translate product and end-user requirements into functional, deployed cloud services.
• Build automation for observability, metrics collection, and data analysis to identify and report system issues.
• Coordinate with Datacentre Operations to integrate and maintain high-performance server, switch, and storage hardware.
• Work with pre-release hardware and software, ensuring stability within our development environments.

Requirements

• Experience working within an IT organization, datacentre, cloud provider, or as a developer of orchestration and cloud services.
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure management and Infrastructure-as-Code deployment methodologies.
• Technical expertise in observability, high-performance networking, and storage systems.
• Ability to work effectively with unproven or early-stage technology components.
