What you'll do
- Collaborate with project managers to understand project specifications and requirements, ensuring that all engineering designs are implemented accurately in the field.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, assess compliance with safety regulations, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Prepare detailed reports on field activities, documenting any discrepancies and proposing solutions to keep projects on track.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services necessary for project completion.
- Assist in the development of project schedules, identifying potential delays and recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Perform quality control checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet established standards.
- Provide technical support to construction teams, answering questions and addressing concerns related to engineering designs.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on field conditions and collaborating with team members to resolve any issues.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to analyze data and create models that inform decision-making on-site.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and field staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure that all engineering practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends and advancements in engineering technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a field engineering role, preferably within the construction or architecture sectors.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on practical application in a field setting.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in construction environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green engineering principles.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and tools.
- Previous experience in a client-facing role, enhancing stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.
