About the role
Join the Databases team at Grafana Labs, where you'll contribute to the core observability platform. This role involves developing and maintaining distributed systems for metrics, logs, and traces. You will work with open-source projects that are also offered as a cloud service and on-premise solutions.

- Manage projects from initial concept through to operational deployment for customers.
- Contribute to open-source projects, even those outside your immediate team's focus.
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring their reliability and performance.
- Participate in on-call rotations for your team's services.
- Support team members through design discussions and active collaboration.
- Expand your skills by understanding the cloud product, customer needs, and the codebase of a large distributed system.
Requirements
- Proven experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred, but Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar are acceptable).
- Experience independently delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipment.
- Experience developing software for cloud environments or with systems engineering.
- Ability to write clear, maintainable, and performant software.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes or Docker.
- Prior use of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, including on-call duties or personal projects.
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, with a desire to learn more.
- Familiarity with on-call responsibilities, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code concepts.

Practical notes
Base compensation in Spain ranges from 83,000 EU to 104,000 EU, with actual compensation varying based on experience and skillset. Benefits include equity, potential bonus, and other company benefits. This is a 100% remote position, and applicants from Spain, Ireland, Germany, the UK, or Sweden are currently being considered. The company offers 30 days of annual leave, with 3 days reserved for company-wide shutdown.
