Senior Data Scientist

About the role

Join the Business and Transaction Platform team to build machine learning systems that organize merchant data for Grab Food and Grab Mart. You will focus on knowledge graph development to improve how our platform understands text, images, and structured information across Southeast Asia.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Create and refine pipelines for entity recognition and attribute tagging using Large Language Models and natural language processing.
• Build multilingual entity mapping systems utilizing semantic similarity and embedding models.
• Enhance taxonomy structures by automating hierarchy generation, synonym mining, and deduplication.
• Conduct experiments to measure model performance and the resulting impact on business metrics.
• Partner with engineering and product groups to embed machine learning outputs into platform features.

Requirements

• Master degree in Mathematics, Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or applied NLP.
• Strong coding skills in Python, SQL, and Spark for processing data at scale.
• Practical experience with text classification, entity recognition, and embedding models.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and present findings to stakeholders across different departments.

Nice to have

• Prior experience working with taxonomy systems, entity resolution, or knowledge graphs.
