About the role
GovWell is modernizing government operations by replacing outdated legacy software with an AI-driven platform. As a Data Solutions Engineer, you will manage the migration of complex, messy municipal records into our system to ensure successful client launches. You will serve as the technical lead for onboarding, bridging the gap between raw government data and our production environment.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage end-to-end data migrations by mapping schemas, configuring ingestion, and performing validation for government agencies.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, explaining migration requirements and managing expectations during the transition.
- Audit legacy datasets to identify and resolve inconsistencies or errors before they impact production.
- Improve onboarding efficiency by developing templates, playbooks, and internal tools to automate manual tasks.
- Provide feedback to the product and engineering teams to help refine the platform based on real-world migration challenges.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of professional experience in ETL/ELT, data migrations, or technical implementations.
- Proficiency in Python for reading, debugging, and shipping code within data pipelines.
- Advanced SQL skills for data transformation, reconciliation, and validation.
- Ability to translate complex stakeholder needs into clear, actionable migration plans.
- High attention to detail with a focus on data integrity in high-stakes environments.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Experience in customer-facing roles explaining technical constraints to non-technical users.
- Knowledge of geospatial data or GIS software.
- Background in B2B SaaS environments.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams to build internal tooling.
