About the role
You will contribute to the Open Digital Platform by building the middleware and infrastructure that connects enterprise software with smart building systems and operational technology. This position focuses on creating scalable services and reliable data pipelines to support Singapore's digital infrastructure.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and manage backend microservices and middleware.
- Create REST APIs and event-driven services for system integration.
- Build protocol adapters for MQTT, REST API, OPC UA, BACnet, RabbitMQ/AMQP, and Modbus.
- Establish data routing, validation, and transformation services.
- Design asynchronous workflows with a focus on fault tolerance and message reliability.
- Implement observability tools and monitoring to troubleshoot distributed systems.
- Manage Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and handle software release cycles.
- Write technical documentation, including API specs, Interface Control Documents, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
- Practical experience with RabbitMQ.
- Hands-on work with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes.
- Experience developing within Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD development workflows.
- Experience working with communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC-UA, MQTT, and REST API.
Nice to have
- Experience with IIoT or PLCs.
- Background in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
