Data Scientist, Forward-Deployed Team

About the role

Join the Forward-Deployed Team to bridge the gap between complex data science and public sector business needs. You will work directly with government agencies to identify, build, and deploy analytical solutions that improve public service delivery.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Consult with business stakeholders to define challenges and convert them into concrete data science projects.
• Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, including data preparation, feature engineering, and model development.
• Present analytical findings and project progress to stakeholders to gather feedback and prioritize refinements.
• Create compelling data narratives and visual dashboards to support decision-making for leadership.
• Deploy and monitor machine learning models using established MLOps platforms.
• Serve as a core data science resource for other government agencies during 2-3 year deployments to build internal analytical capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Social Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data science or the public sector.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical analytical problems.
• Proficiency in data cleaning, anomaly detection, and preparation of structured and unstructured data.
• Expertise in statistical methodologies and machine learning model development.
• Strong skills in data visualization, ranging from simple charts to custom interactive applications.
• Capability to communicate complex insights as actionable business recommendations.
• Relevant certifications such as Coursera are considered during the evaluation.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with MLOps and model deployment.
• Background in stakeholder management and agile project management.
• Experience mentoring or developing data capabilities in others.
