Software Engineer - Internal AI Platform
Job description
About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the company-wide platform and empowerment team that makes Gorgias the company that operates best with AI. In this role, you will own end-to-end systems and surfaces that enable every employee to work effectively with artificial intelligence across the entire organization. You will shape the internal AI platform by enhancing both the user-facing experience and the underlying infrastructure that powers it. Your work will directly influence how product teams, support agents, and operations staff interact with AI on a daily basis. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers and context engineers to ensure the platform is intuitive, reliable, and scalable. Ultimately, you will be responsible for turning advanced platform capabilities into practical tools that drive productivity and adoption across Gorgias.
Key facts
What you'll do
Enhance the Cortex UX by designing and shipping polished, reliable user-facing surfaces such as the work hub, agent and app builder, workflows, connectors, and embedded applications. Own internal API services, background workers, and integration layers while maintaining robust deployment pipelines on Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and ArgoCD or GitOps workflows. Implement and operate Datadog monitoring, alerting, incident response procedures, and capacity planning to ensure platform reliability and performance. Build and maintain the foundational infrastructure for authentication, integrations, and application frameworks so that other teams can develop internal apps inside Cortex without needing to manage low-level infrastructure. Drive governance and cost control through permissions models, usage visibility, and tooling that enables empowerment without overspending on LLM resources. Continuously improve the developer, agent, and user experience by reducing friction, automating repetitive tasks, and maintaining an agent-legible codebase with clear conventions, tooling, documentation, and fast feedback loops. Act as a pillar of the platform by participating in continuous peer review, ensuring broad test coverage, and keeping the platform available as a shared resource for AI and Context engineers. Partner closely with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into platform capabilities that scale across the organization. Maintain a strong focus on pragmatic system design, including service boundaries, API contracts, asynchronous patterns, and relational data management. Support the adoption of AI-native workflows by providing tools and abstractions that make it easy for others to build with confidence.
Requirements
You must have 3 or more years of full-stack engineering experience and a track record of shipping user-facing products end to end, demonstrating care for the experience users actually have. You should bring strong full-stack capabilities across both front-end technologies like React and back-end services and APIs, with the product instinct to turn complex capabilities into approachable and reliable solutions. Experience owning cloud-native infrastructure is essential, including hands-on work with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration on GCP. You should be proficient in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js and be pragmatic about selecting the right tool for each problem. A solid understanding of system design fundamentals such as service boundaries, API contracts, async patterns, and relational data is required. You must embrace a platform mindset where internal teams and Gorgians are treated as your primary users, and you care deeply about enabling others through thoughtful tooling and clear communication. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where responsibilities span infrastructure, product, and operations. Reliability, ownership, and a bias for action are core expectations of how you will operate on the team. You must be able to write and maintain code that is both human and AI-readable, supporting efficient collaboration across engineers and coding agents.
