About the role
The DevOps Engineer II will focus on automating the deployment of Infrastructure as Code in both Microsoft Azure and on-premises settings. This role involves managing product updates, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing integrations that align with customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering, with extensive experience in Terraform, Python, and PowerShell.

- Lead the development of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and scripting languages to enable scalable and dependable deployments.
- Oversee Linux and Kubernetes cluster environments.
- Implement solutions following established Change Management Processes.
- Assist development teams with API integration strategies and standards.
- Ensure systems are safeguarded against cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
- Identify technical issues and create software updates and fixes.
- Utilize Splunk for administration, query optimization, alerting, and dashboard creation.
- Develop tools aimed at minimizing errors and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Suggest automation solutions within the Infrastructure Department to alleviate workload.
- Design, implement, and refine CI/CD pipelines for expedited and reliable software releases.
- Conduct root cause analyses and apply corrective measures.
- Create tests to evaluate infrastructure failures and scaling.
- Maintain response playbooks for incident management and monitoring tools.
- Develop automation processes to ensure consistency, reduce manual tasks, and expedite service repairs.
- Analyze operational metrics to discover opportunities for improving system availability.
- Establish effective monitoring and alerting systems to minimize alert fatigue.
- Manage container orchestration environments and optimize deployment workflows for better scalability and efficiency.
- Build and oversee containerized environments using Docker.
- Create and maintain service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs), and error budgets.
- Design and enhance monitoring dashboards and alert systems to proactively address application performance and uptime challenges.
- Implement code branching strategies utilizing GitHub functions.
- Use advanced Terraform syntax and configure GitLab CI/CD pipelines and jobs.
- Set up metrics in Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana, including alert management.
- Apply cloud engineering standards and reusable modules in Microsoft Azure.
- Operate shared cloud platform services according to defined architectures.
- Ensure infrastructure modifications adhere to reliability, security, and cost control measures established by Cloud Engineering.
- Maintain operational documentation and runbooks for cloud platform services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer in medium to large-scale environments.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and hybrid cloud deployments utilizing Microsoft Azure and VMware.
- Strong skills in Git/GitHub workflows, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, and container orchestration technologies (Tanzu, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ThousandEyes).
- Knowledge of log management systems (ELK Stack) and database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
- Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning and application deployment using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to create and maintain monitoring dashboards, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to ensure application performance and uptime.
- Background in infrastructure security, automation initiatives, and cross-team collaboration to enhance reliability and scalability.
