About the role
This role involves leading a distributed team of Solutions Architects across the UK and Ireland, with potential for expansion into other European countries like Sweden and the Netherlands. You will act as a player-coach, guiding technical strategy for complex sales and directly engaging in high-impact opportunities to secure technical wins. The position focuses on the intersection of technical sales strategy, team development, and operational scaling, translating customer needs into business outcomes.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead a team of Solutions Architects in the UK and Ireland, providing clear direction and ensuring high-quality execution.
- Serve as a player-coach, directly participating in strategic opportunities, building executive relationships, and coaching your team through intricate sales cycles.
- Define regional strategy for technical evaluations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements, linking customer needs to technical and business results.
- Collaborate with global Solutions Architecture, Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Product Management to align priorities and achieve regional objectives.
- Manage indirect relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts, fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Maintain operational discipline across workload planning, resource allocation, headcount planning, opportunity forecasting, and field execution.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators for the team, communicating progress, risks, and priorities to stakeholders.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing Solutions Architects, enhancing team capabilities and building a scalable regional organization.
Requirements
- Experience managing technical teams in software or technology sales, pre-sales, or consulting, with direct exposure to the UK and Ireland markets.
- Strong background in solution architecture or similar practical experience, capable of connecting technical depth to customer business value.
- Proven track record of developing, mentoring, and scaling Solutions Architecture practices or comparable customer-facing technical organizations in growing businesses.
- Excellent communication and technical presentation skills, effective across diverse cultures and with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated business acumen and sound judgment, balancing technical excellence with commercial outcomes and regional priorities.
- History of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and building strong partnerships across various departments.
- Experience building inclusive, high-performing teams and establishing clear, accountable operating practices in a distributed or remote setting.
- Genuine interest in AI, regularly incorporating AI tools into daily work for efficiency and applying this mindset to customer engagement.
- Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes.
- Must be based in the UK or Ireland.
