The Data Innovation Specialist position is part of the Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy (RWCDS) team, which focuses on enhancing decision-making and evidence generation within Roche Product Development. This role involves developing data strategies that maximize the potential of clinical, operational, and real-world data to foster innovation and improve patient outcomes.

What you'll do

• Identify and prototype innovative methods and technologies to enhance data utilization across product development.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to create proof-of-concepts and validate new solutions using AI and knowledge graphs.
• Support data engineering efforts to design and optimize data workflows, ensuring integration of diverse data sources.
• Engage in complex analytical projects that explore novel data types and automated workflows in a multi-modal setting.
• Facilitate the development of low-/no-code analytics platforms to broaden access to multi-modal data.
• Mentor junior team members and guide peers in innovative methodologies and data tools.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations while identifying areas for innovation through research.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Informatics, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• 2-4 years of experience in data-related projects, or an advanced degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to document technical findings effectively.
• Independent thinker with the ability to make informed decisions.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with adaptability beyond technical aspects.
• Respect for cultural diversity in a global work environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-world data or research informatics in a biomedical context.
• Interest in emerging technologies, including machine learning and clinical AI.
• Ability to communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in data engineering and analytics tools.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and multi-agent systems.
• Experience with knowledge graphs and data governance frameworks.

Practical notes

This position is located in South San Francisco, CA, and relocation assistance is not provided. The anticipated salary range for this role is $97,900 to $181,700 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
