About the role

Join garage as the first technical recruiter, shaping the core engineering, product, and design teams. You will collaborate directly with the CTO and co-founder to identify and secure top talent. This role involves comprehensive ownership of the hiring process, from initial outreach to successful onboarding.

What you'll do

• Manage the complete hiring cycle for engineering, product, design, and data science roles, working closely with leadership to attract and close exceptional technical candidates.
• Develop and implement targeted sourcing strategies, utilizing outbound methods, referrals, and technical communities to quickly fill critical positions.
• Oversee structured and efficient recruiting processes, from candidate screening to offer negotiation, ensuring a positive experience for all applicants.
• Monitor pipeline health using Ashby and establish scalable recruiting systems and operational guidelines.
• Contribute to the expansion of the recruiting department as the company grows.

Requirements

• Demonstrated full-cycle experience recruiting technical professionals across software engineering, design, product development, and data science.
• An established network and understanding of the startup talent landscape in New York City.
• Proven ability to close candidates effectively, with a keen awareness of cultural fit.
• A drive to build high-performing teams in a rapidly evolving, innovative setting.
• Familiarity with modern recruiting and AI tools such as Ashby, Juicebox, Metaview, Gem, Clay, ChatGPT, or Claude.
• Strong organizational skills within an Applicant Tracking System like Ashby.
