What you'll do

• Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of various clients across different sectors.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of the client's operations.
• Develop and deliver training programs to educate client staff on cybersecurity best practices and awareness.
• Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to provide informed recommendations to clients.
• Manage and oversee incident response activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security breaches.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, outlining security posture and improvement recommendations.
• Mentor and guide junior cybersecurity professionals within the organization, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on all cybersecurity matters.
• Participate in the development of security policies, procedures, and standards to enhance organizational security frameworks.
• Engage in business development activities, contributing to proposals and presentations to attract new clients.
• Collaborate with external partners and vendors to enhance security capabilities and resources.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on consulting or advisory roles.
• Proven expertise in risk management, incident response, and security architecture.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards, such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
• Experience with security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability management solutions.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud security frameworks and practices, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.
• Experience in developing and implementing security awareness training programs.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning as they pertain to cybersecurity.
• Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role within a cybersecurity context.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools, threat intelligence platforms, and vulnerability assessment tools.
• Strong understanding of network security protocols and architectures.
• Familiarity with penetration testing and ethical hacking methodologies.
• Competence in using project management software and methodologies to manage cybersecurity projects effectively.

• This position is based in either Glasgow or Reading, Berkshire, and may require occasional travel to client sites.
