Staff Engineer - Systems

About the role

You will lead the design and implementation of multi-tier software across the database, service, and web layers. This role focuses on building scalable platform features and APIs while mentoring engineering teams to improve system reliability and development speed.

What you'll do

• Own and execute the engineering roadmap for your assigned teams.
• Architect and document low-latency, cost-effective platform solutions.
• Develop APIs and services that support current and future product growth.
• Create intuitive tools for internal developers, partners, and customers to automate workflows.
• Solve complex technical challenges and drive adoption across product teams.
• Improve system scalability, reliability, and deployment velocity.
• Manage technical debt through iterative, practical health improvements.
• Establish high standards for code quality and maintainability through reviews and CI/CD integration.
• Resolve critical production issues in distributed SaaS environments and implement preventive measures.
• Mentor engineers on systems thinking, coding discipline, and ownership.
• Ensure compliance with information security processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software and systems or platform engineering.
• Proven track record of owning end-to-end architecture for platform services or products.
• Expert proficiency in Python or Java with Spring-based backend development.
• Deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and advanced object-oriented programming.
• Extensive experience with Linux environments and SaaS production troubleshooting.
• Experience building high-performance, high-availability, and low-latency services.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems, multi-tier architectures, and API design.
• Familiarity with agile workflows, CI/CD practices, and operational ownership.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and align cross-functional teams.
