Platform Operations Engineer

About the role

Freedompay is looking for a Platform Operations Engineer to support our global commerce infrastructure. You will focus on building automation and AI-driven processes to ensure our systems remain stable and performant during periods of rapid growth.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Improve system monitoring and performance by identifying and implementing technical optimizations.
• Perform root-cause analysis for platform incidents and create proactive solutions to stop recurring issues.
• Act as an escalation point for difficult technical problems, coordinating resolutions to reduce business impact.
• Create and update standard operating procedures and documentation to ensure operational consistency.
• Serve as a subject matter expert while collaborating with internal stakeholders and engineering teams.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working in high-throughput, web-based, or transaction-processing environments.
• Proven ability to manage incidents and drive technical issues to a quick resolution.
• Strong analytical skills with a history of applying new technology to improve operations.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with a focus on service ownership.

Nice to have

• Background in financial services or payment processing systems.
• Familiarity with PCI compliance standards and best practices.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and sharing technical knowledge.

Skills & tools

• Observability: Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, or similar APM tools.
• AI and Automation: AIOps, ML-driven observability, anomaly detection, alert correlation, Claude (Anthropic), or similar AI-assisted tools.
• Scripting: Python, PowerShell.
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Terraform, IaaS/PaaS, Azure, VMware.
• Azure Services: Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure AI Foundry.
• Data and Logging: Splunk, SQL, T-SQL.
• Networking: Firewalls, load balancing, TCP/IP routing, switching.
