Join a team of problem solvers at FourKites, where you'll tackle complex challenges with real-world impact on global supply chains for major companies like Walmart and Cardinal Health. As a Senior Customer Engineer, you'll manage technical customer relationships from start to finish, designing and deploying innovative solutions. You'll write production-ready code quickly, focusing on strong data structures and algorithms to deliver solutions efficiently.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead complex integration and AI agent implementations for 2-4 enterprise accounts, from initial discovery to post-launch enhancements.
- Design integration architectures, ensuring robust error handling, retry logic, observability, failure recovery, and multi-system authentication.
- Develop and deploy AI agent workflows for supply chain operations, including regression testing and validation before each customer release.
- Implement AI agent workflows directly with customers, configuring and troubleshooting during live calls.
- Conduct independent customer discovery sessions, proposing innovative technical solutions on the spot.
- Utilize LLMs like Claude and OpenAI throughout the workflow for requirements, design, code generation, testing, and deployment.
- Represent FourKites technically during presales, explaining integration architecture and platform capabilities to prospective clients.
- Collaborate with the SCA team on high-complexity technical and product questions, offering informed perspectives.
- Review code for integration and AI workflow projects from other FDEs, maintaining quality standards.
- Mentor other FDEs, providing guidance on difficult problems and consistent work reviews.
- Identify and formalize reusable integration patterns and AI workflow templates for the team's library.
- Accurately estimate project scope and effort, and manage your work to meet those estimates.
- Work with various internal teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
Requirements
- 6-9 years of software engineering experience, with significant background in integration engineering, system design, or customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong proficiency in Java is required, plus experience with Python or Ruby, writing clean, production-grade code with test coverage.
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, enabling design of scalable systems and appropriate architectural decisions for high-throughput scenarios.
- Strong software design skills to architect modular, resilient, and observable integration and AI workflow systems, with the ability to clearly document and defend designs.
- Ability to write optimized code quickly, compressing development cycles without compromising quality.
- Innovative approach to problem-solving, bringing creative and often non-obvious solutions to complex integration and AI workflow challenges.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and their application in multi-system environments.
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying end-to-end agentic AI workflows using LangGraph or similar tools.
- Experience using Claude, OpenAI, or equivalent LLMs across the entire development workflow.
- Proven ability to lead technical discovery sessions with enterprise customers and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Comfortable deploying and troubleshooting agentic workflows live during customer calls.
- Strong SQL proficiency for investigating data issues and validating integration output.
- Background in a Forward Deployment, Field Engineering, or similar customer-embedded technical role with supply chain or logistics industry exposure is mandatory.
Nice to have
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, or B2B SaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with EDI standards, carrier integrations, TMS/WMS systems, and supply chain data flows.
- Experience with low-code/no-code workflow automation platforms like Pipedream, n8n, or Temporal.
- Snowflake experience and familiarity with large-scale data investigation in multi-tenant environments.
