[Remote] Director, Data Science: Specialty Product Design and Modeling Team

About the role

This senior individual contributor role will be the primary data science representative for Specialty Product Design and Modeling. You will drive innovation in Specialty pricing and contribute significantly to the evolution of US Retail Markets Personal Lines.

What you'll do

• Represent the Specialty Data Science perspective within the Frontier transformation initiative, ensuring requirements are captured and implemented.
• Develop deep expertise in Specialty rating programs, coverages, data definitions, and pipelines, connecting insights across Product, Technology, Delivery, and Actuarial.
• Investigate and implement advanced modeling techniques, evaluate new variables, and identify data sources to enhance competitive advantage.
• Guide the Specialty team in advanced modeling and analytical work.
• Clearly communicate complex technical findings to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
• 6-8 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Proven ability in predictive analytics and statistical model evaluation.
• Proficiency with modeling tools such as Python, R, and Emblem.
• Strong understanding of data sources, rating systems, and Specialty Lines business context.
• Demonstrated skill in conveying technical information effectively through various communication channels to diverse audiences.
• Experience building relationships and fostering collaboration across large, cross-functional teams.
• Ability to influence teams, department heads, and senior management using data and analysis.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen awareness of business objectives.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Personal lines insurance background.

• This role is remote within the USA.
• Employees within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will have a hybrid work arrangement, requiring two days per week in the office.
• Occasional travel may be required for remote employees.
• Compensation may include commission and/or bonus earnings.
