[Remote] Data Scientist

About the role

FlexBoard is hiring a Data Scientist or Data Analytics Engineer to create and manage advanced analytics for transportation and logistics operations. You will build AWS data pipelines, develop predictive models, and provide actionable insights to internal teams and customers.

What you'll do

• Develop, train, and validate predictive models including regression, time-series forecasting, clustering, and deep learning.
• Manage model lifecycles through hyperparameter tuning, performance evaluation, and monitoring for drift.
• Create real-time analytics, KPI dashboards, and exception reports for fleet, finance, and product departments.
• Construct and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines using AWS tools.
• Implement medallion architecture patterns to transform raw data into usable datasets.
• Design business-friendly data models and enforce data quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering on CI/CD processes and infrastructure-as-code.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives for executive leadership and clients.
• Mentor team members on statistical methods and data architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, or Computer Science.
• Professional experience within the transportation, trucking, or logistics sectors.
• Familiarity with operational data such as shipments, ELD/telematics, TMS, and billing.
• Proven history of launching customer-facing analytics features from conception to production.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a relevant field.

Skills & tools

• AWS services: Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis, MSK, EMR, Lambda, SageMaker.
• Modeling techniques: SHAP, feature importance, partial dependence.
• Infrastructure: Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Data warehousing: Schema modeling, data profiling, validation testing.
