About the role
Fin is seeking a Staff AI Product Designer to define how our AI agents behave and integrate into complex user workflows. This position focuses on architecting system logic, decision frameworks, and human-AI interaction models rather than traditional interface design.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Identify high-value opportunities for AI implementation across the product.
- Establish boundaries for AI autonomy and human oversight.
- Architect workflows for multi-step and agent-to-agent interactions.
- Create decision frameworks for when systems should act, escalate, or defer.
- Design for edge cases, system failures, and uncertainty as core behaviors.
- Define metrics for success including trust, accuracy, and effort reduction.
- Conduct experiments to isolate variables and refine system performance.
- Collaborate with ML scientists, product managers, and designers to bridge technical capabilities with user needs.
Requirements
- Strong product judgment and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Experience working on zero-to-one products in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Deep understanding of LLMs, their limitations, and traditional ML approaches.
- Ability to define design principles, heuristics, or evaluation criteria for AI systems.
- Systems-thinking mindset with a focus on behavior and logic over visual interface design.
- Scientific approach to designing experiments and analyzing failure modes.
- Ability to represent user needs within technical system constraints.
