Staff Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

This senior role provides technical leadership for Filevine's Site Reliability Engineering team. You will be instrumental in defining production standards and bridging the gap between business objectives and technical execution, with a focus on how AI can enhance reliability.

What you'll do

• Shape the technical direction for Observability & Alerting and Platform Infrastructure.
• Drive the development of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud platforms and distributed systems.
• Advocate for and implement reliability practices like SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and capacity planning.
• Guide the organization through critical production incidents and ensure permanent solutions are implemented.
• Develop self-service tools to reduce operational burden and empower engineering teams.
• Mentor other engineers and provide technical guidance on long-term platform strategy.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE.
• 6+ years specifically in SRE.
• 3+ years leading complex, cross-functional technical initiatives for distributed production systems.
• Deep expertise in observability and platform infrastructure, with broad knowledge of incident response, capacity planning, automation, and reliability engineering.
• Advanced experience with a container orchestration platform, ideally Kubernetes.
• Advanced experience with an observability platform such as New Relic or Datadog.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, Bash, or a similar language, including building production tooling and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and communicate technical risks to various stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated environment such as FedRAMP, CJIS, HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI.
