About the role
Figure builds autonomous humanoid robots designed to operate with human-level intelligence in commercial and residential settings. We are seeking a mechanical engineer to focus on the development, testing, and deployment of hardware for our robotic arm systems.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create 3D CAD designs that meet specific durability standards, industrial form factors, and load requirements.
- Construct prototypes to evaluate wire routing, motion ranges, and assembly processes.
- Produce precise 2D technical drawings following ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Collaborate with the GSM team to select suppliers and manage part procurement.
- Verify first-article components, construct testing rigs, and provide ongoing support for robot development platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Robotics, Biomechanical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software for complex geometry design.
- Background in building and designing physical prototypes.
- Competency in analysis and simulation methods, including MATLAB and FEA.
- Capacity to produce and update clear design documentation.
- Practical knowledge of actuators, such as cycloidal, planetary, or strain-wave types.
- Experience integrating electromechanical systems, including communication buses, wire harnesses, motor drivers, motors, and sensors.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with high-volume production methods.
- History of collaborating with contract manufacturers.
- Proficiency in CATIA V6.
- Experience with wire harness design.
