About the role
Figma is developing the second generation of its infrastructure to support the next five years of growth. This role sits within the Foundation team, which provides the core platforms that power all other services at the company. You will focus on building high-performance network and edge systems to manage traffic for our global user base.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain distributed systems that support our design and collaboration tools.
- Manage and secure our edge and internal network infrastructure hosted on AWS.
- Implement an internal service mesh to handle our expanding service portfolio.
- Create automated detection and scaling systems to mitigate DDoS attacks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents across the stack to improve system reliability.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience building scalable infrastructure and cloud services.
- Proficiency in Go or TypeScript.
- Background in scaling traffic systems as an individual contributor or team lead.
- History of shipping high-quality infrastructure products in fast-growing organizations.
- Experience collaborating across teams to manage network traffic for millions of users.
Nice to have
- Expertise in DDoS mitigation strategies within AWS or cloud environments.
- Experience hardening network infrastructure.
- Ability to analyze traffic data using Lambda, VPC Flow Logs, and similar tools.
- Familiarity with SSL, DNS, HTTP, and TCP protocols.
- Experience working with Haproxy or Envoy proxies.
