Senior Product Counsel at Figma.
About the role
Figma is looking for a Senior Product Counsel to support our Product, Design, and Engineering teams. You will manage complex legal questions as we scale our product releases and build a framework for risk management.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide legal guidance to Product, Design, and Engineering teams regarding product development and go-to-market strategies.
- Review user experiences, product disclosures, and marketing materials to manage legal risk.
- Coordinate with Commercial, IP, and Regulatory legal teams to maintain a unified strategy.
- Advise on privacy, data protection, consumer protection, intellectual property, and AI-specific regulations.
- Create internal processes and resources to help legal guidance scale alongside product velocity.
- Identify emerging legal risks early in the development cycle to support informed decision-making.
Requirements
- 8+ years of legal experience.
- J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school or a foreign equivalent.
- Must be U.S.-qualified.
- In-depth knowledge of technology, IP, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and AI law.
- Ability to work independently, build processes from the ground up, and manage product details.
- Experience providing business-oriented advice and making decisions with limited information.
- Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered platforms.
Nice to have
- Previous in-house experience at a SaaS company.
- Familiarity with advising on ML or AI products.
- Technical background.
