About the role
Figma is seeking a leader to guide the Payload team as it develops our open-source CMS and application framework. You will oversee the growth of this platform while integrating it into the broader Figma ecosystem to support developers and organizations building digital products.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the engineering team responsible for the Payload platform.
- Create and implement strategies to integrate Payload into Figma product offerings.
- Communicate with enterprise clients, open-source contributors, and community members to define product priorities.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality product architecture and user experiences.
- Hire, mentor, and manage the performance of engineers to build a collaborative team culture.
- Coordinate with product and technical leadership to execute the roadmap and focus on high-impact engineering goals.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering management at a technical product company.
- Technical expertise in modern web development using Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
- Experience leading teams focused on developer platforms, application frameworks, or extensible software systems.
- Proven ability to shape developer-facing APIs and work with design teams on user-centric products.
Nice to have
- Practical experience with CMS systems, specifically Payload.
- History of leading or contributing to open-source projects and community-driven development.
- Background in managing enterprise customer requirements alongside community needs.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and developer productivity platforms.
