About the role
Figma is seeking a strategic leader to serve as the first Director of Business Operations. This role will own the company's most complex, high-stakes business challenges, specifically focusing on monetization and business model evolution in the era of AI.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Transform ambiguous, high-level business questions into actionable decisions and own the final outcomes.
- Define the monetization strategy for the AI era, including usage-based billing, agentic workflows, API monetization, and acquired business integration.
- Build and manage a high-performing team, establishing standards for analytical rigor and executive-level communication.
- Collaborate with Product, Finance, Engineering, and GTM leadership to address critical business hurdles.
- Provide independent, data-driven input on company planning and capital allocation.
Requirements
- Proven history of taking unstructured, company-defining problems and driving them to executive resolution.
- Professional background combining top-tier strategy experience (management consulting, private equity, or investing) with operational roles at a high-growth software company.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and communicate complex ideas with clarity.
- Strong financial literacy and the ability to reason through P&L and business model mechanics.
- Experience in managing and developing direct reports.
Nice to have
- Specific experience with pricing, packaging, or business model design, particularly in consumption-based or AI-driven markets.
- Technical proficiency in financial modeling and SQL.
