About the role

Field Ai builds autonomous robotic systems for sectors including mining, construction, and manufacturing. This position combines hands-on engineering with project oversight to manage the lifecycle of 3D mapping initiatives. You will bridge the gap between technical development and operational deployment to ensure our robotic solutions function effectively in complex environments.

What you'll do

• Architect and support production-ready software for 3D mapping applications.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of mapping projects by coordinating hardware, software, and data teams.
• Test mapping algorithms and systems using physical robots in unpredictable, real-world settings.
• Create project roadmaps, define milestones, and manage schedules based on technical and client needs.
• Build internal automation tools and benchmarking systems to improve software reliability.
• Use tools like Jira or Confluence to track dependencies, manage scope, and report project status.
• Establish documentation and standard operating procedures to scale future mapping deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of professional experience split between robotics software development and technical project management.
• Proficiency in Python and C++ programming.
• Practical knowledge of 3D geometry and point cloud processing using tools like Open3D or PCL.
• Experience with Agile workflows and the full software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with project management software such as Wrike, Confluence, or Jira.
• Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams in a high-growth environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux/Ubuntu environments and LiDAR sensor integration.
• Background in autonomous vehicles, drones, embedded systems, or mobile robotics.
• History of supporting field operations or customer-facing deployments.
• Professional certifications such as Scrum Master, Agile, or PMP.
• Previous work experience in a startup setting.
