Software Engineer, Data Engineering

About the role

Field Ai is seeking a data engineer to construct the infrastructure and pipelines necessary to manage large-scale robotics data. You will support our fleet by ensuring telemetry, sensor logs, and operational signals move from hardware to our internal platforms for analysis and machine learning.

What you'll do

• Architect and manage production-grade data pipelines for robot logs, telemetry, and sensor information.
• Create robust ingestion and orchestration workflows using Airflow.
• Build backend services and APIs to provide internal teams access to operational data.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS including compute, object storage, and database services.
• Enhance system reliability by implementing monitoring, schema validation, and automated retries.
• Partner with autonomy and robotics teams to support real-world deployment needs.
• Scale data systems to accommodate growing fleets and larger datasets.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in platform, backend, or data engineering.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proven experience operating data pipelines in production environments.
• Familiarity with Airflow or comparable orchestration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, EC2, RDS, Redshift, Glue, Athena, or SQS.
• Ability to manage testing, debugging, and incident response for production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Background in operating or deploying Kubernetes workloads in production.
• Familiarity with robotics, IoT, fleet telemetry, or time-series data handling.
• Experience with data warehouse or lake solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
