About the role

Join the central research and development team to conduct fundamental and applied technical research focused on AI safety. You will lead projects that influence frontier labs and government agencies while advancing the theory and practice of secure, responsible AI.

What you'll do

• Direct original technical research from the initial hypothesis through to publication.
• Determine the research agenda by selecting projects that combine scientific depth with practical utility.
• Provide technical expertise to assist with broader red-teaming and evaluation initiatives.
• Represent the company externally to government stakeholders and frontier model developers.
• Write reproducible research code and build the engineering infrastructure necessary for scientific discovery.
• Work with cross-functional teams to turn research findings into actionable mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• Proven history of AI research, demonstrated via publications or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to manage research projects independently from problem formulation to final output.
• Deep technical understanding of generative AI and large language model architectures.
• Experience with white-box techniques that go beyond standard API-level interactions.
• Strong grounding in machine learning principles, specifically regarding explainability, uncertainty estimation, and robustness.
• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch for building research tools.
