About the role
This founding leadership position defines the learning science strategy for the Public Services business unit. You will bridge the gap between pedagogical theory and technical execution to ensure our AI-driven education tools deliver measurable improvements in learning outcomes.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect learning goals, skill models, and feedback mechanisms for national-scale education infrastructure and assessment systems.
- Develop and maintain the internal Learning Science Playbook to standardize best practices for measurement and data instrumentation.
- Design and manage formative and summative evaluations to provide empirical evidence of system efficacy.
- Collaborate with engineering and data science squads to translate pedagogical requirements into functional system architecture.
- Provide subject matter expertise for safety and assurance projects regarding AI use in educational settings.
- Mentor internal teams on integrating learning science into product development and UX design.
- Represent the organization as a primary authority on learning science to senior client stakeholders.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in learning sciences, instructional design, and cognitive or behavioral science.
- Proven ability to convert pedagogical concepts into actionable technical requirements for developers.
- Experience designing and executing studies to measure learning impact, including mastery, retention, and transfer.
- History of working alongside technical teams such as engineers, data scientists, or product managers to influence system design.
- Technical literacy regarding AI development and a strong interest in expanding that knowledge.
- High-level communication skills capable of influencing executive stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Practical experience developing adaptive or AI-powered learning platforms.
- Familiarity with LLM architectures, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation frameworks, or learning analytics.
- Background in consulting, agency work, or multi-institution platform environments.
