What you'll do

• Design and develop reliable, secure, and high-performance production systems that operate effectively under clinical demands.
• Make critical technical decisions with limited information, carefully weighing trade-offs and taking responsibility for those choices.
• Elevate the quality of work through code reviews and design guidance, regardless of formal leadership roles.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to transform ambiguous challenges into clear, tested solutions.
• Troubleshoot and strengthen complex systems, implementing safeguards to prevent recurring failures.
• Influence the technical direction of your team and, at senior levels, contribute to the architectural vision of the platform.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience with a proven record of developing and managing production systems.
• Recent, demonstrable expertise in one or more modern programming languages and frameworks, along with the ability to discuss the systems you have developed.
• Strong foundational knowledge in system design, data modeling, testing, and ensuring reliability, performance, and security.
• Experience working collaboratively with product, design, and domain experts to deliver software that meets ambiguous requirements.
• Sound engineering judgment, particularly concerning trade-offs, potential failures, and the implications of the systems you manage.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare software development or in other highly regulated and safety-critical environments.
• Ability to quickly adapt and become productive in new technology stacks.
• Familiarity with conversational agents, real-time systems, or managing complex concurrency issues such as race conditions and locking.
• A degree in computer science or a related discipline.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, system design, data modeling, and software testing methodologies.

Practical notes

The national salary range for this position is $70,000 to $225,000 annually. Compensation will be influenced by factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, and qualifications. Additional benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited paid time off, a 401(k) plan, stock options, and bonuses.
